Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at jason@hose-it-down.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Choosing a pressure washing service is an investment in your property’s longevity and curb appeal. Because every home and project is unique, I don’t offer "cookie-cutter" flat rates. Instead, I provide custom estimates based on the specific needs of your job.

Here is a breakdown of how I calculate my pricing:

How do you determine the price for a job?

Each estimate is tailored to the specific project. I primarily look at four key factors:

• Size: The total square footage or linear footage of the surfaces being cleaned.

• Environment: Accessibility (e.g., steep roofs, narrow walkways) and the surrounding landscape.

• Severity: The level of buildup, such as heavy algae, deep oil stains, or years of organic growth.

• Time: The estimated man-hours required to complete the work to a professional standard.

Why does the "severity" of the dirt matter?

Deeply neglected surfaces often require specialized treatments or multiple passes to clean without damaging the material. If a surface hasn't been cleaned in years, it may require a higher concentration of cleaning solutions or more time-intensive techniques, which is reflected in the cost.

What are the main drivers of the final cost?

Beyond the physical size of the area, three main elements drive the price:

1. Chemicals & Solutions: I use professional-grade, eco-friendly detergents. Specialized stains (like rust, oil, or calcium) require specific, more expensive chemical treatments.

2. Labor & Expertise: You are paying for the time it takes to do the job safely and correctly, ensuring no damage to your siding, plants, or property.

3. Project Scope: The more complex the job (e.g., multi-story homes vs. a single-car driveway), the more equipment and safety measures are required.

Can I save money by bundling services?

Yes! Bundling is the best way to get the most value. For example, adding a driveway or sidewalk cleaning while I am already on-site for a house wash is significantly cheaper than booking those services separately.

While I can sometimes give a rough range based on photos or square footage, I prefer to provide a firm quote after seeing the property (either in person or via detailed satellite imagery). This ensures there are no surprises for either of us on the day of the job.

At Hose it down exteriors, we use professional-grade pressure washing equipment that is powerful enough to remove even the toughest dirt and grime from surfaces. Our equipment includes high-pressure washers, surface cleaners, and specialized nozzles that allow us to adjust the pressure to suit the surface being cleaned.

The duration of a pressure washing service depends on the size of the property and the areas that need to be cleaned. However, most pressure washing services can be completed within a few hours to a full day.

Think of pressure washing as more than just a "deep clean"—it’s essentially preventative maintenance for your property. Over time, surfaces like driveways, siding, and decks collect more than just dirt; they host a tiny ecosystem of decomposers.

Here is why it’s a non-negotiable for property care:

1. Boosts Curb Appeal & Property Value

First impressions are everything. A layer of grime makes a home look older and more neglected than it actually is.

• Instant Refresh: Removing stains, oil spots, and mildew can make a 10-year-old driveway look brand new.

• Appraisal Value: Real estate experts often note that a clean exterior can increase a home’s sale price by thousands of dollars.

2. Prevents Costly Repairs

Dirt and grime aren't just ugly; they are destructive.

• Stopping Decay: Algae and moss trap moisture against surfaces, leading to wood rot or the degradation of roof shingles.

• Extending Lifespan: Regularly clearing away corrosive substances (like salt, mold, or acidic bird droppings) prevents permanent etching and structural damage that would cost a fortune to replace.

3. Protects Your Health

Your home’s exterior can become a breeding ground for allergens.

• Breathe Easier: Mold, mildew, and pollen accumulate on siding and in crevices. Pressure washing blasts these away before they can find their way indoors.

• Slip Resistance: Algae and slime on walkways become incredibly slippery when wet. Washing them away keeps your paths safe for walking.

4. Essential Surface Prep

If you’re planning to paint or stain a surface, pressure washing is the most critical first step.

• Better Adhesion: Paint won’t stick to dirt. By removing the "chalky" residue and old debris, you ensure your new coat of paint lasts for years instead of peeling in months.
